Student Work

I usually wait until the end of the semester to do this post, but my Documentary Photography students delighted me with an especially well-completed project -- a taxonomy of people with something in common.

Northlight

The State Press in Phoenix did a little write up about my upcoming show at Northlight Gallery.
Love this install shot by Lauren Hornberger.

Print Center and Northlight

It's going to be a busy month!

On February 4th, please join me for the opening of By the Book: New Photography Publications at the Print Center in Philadelphia.  I'm delighted my work will be included along with recently published books and related photographic prints by Keliy Anderson-Staley, Jesse Burke, Stephanie Bursese, David Hartt, Justine Kurland, Andrea Modica, and Will Steacy.

On February 19th, I'll give a talk and sign books at my exhibit in Norhtlight Gallery in Phoenix, AZ.

Hope to see you there!

And if you're wondering where I've been for the last month, you can check out my obsessive instagramming.

Best Photo Books

I'm delighted Aunties made it onto Guardian's Best Photo Books of 2015 list!
"On a more tender note, Aunties: The Seven Summers of Alevtina and Ludmila, by Nadia Sablin (Duke University Press), is a book made out of pure love. Sablin, who lives in Brooklyn, visits her two elderly aunties every summer, capturing their simple, self-sufficient life in a wooden house among woodland in rural Russia. Sablin’s biggest influence is magical realist fiction and the images move effortlessly between the real and the almost enchanted,"  says Sean O'Hagan.

VOID

The people of Derry react to The Many Splintered Thing show at Void Gallery.

Year 9

I photographed Kate and Emma for the first time in 2006.  They were tiny and dressed in identical kimonos.  We've been making photos together for nine years now.

Peter S. Reed

Very honored and thankful to have been nominated and selected to receive a grant from the Peter S. Reed Foundation.  I think I'll use the funds for a winter trip to Vorkuta, where I will shoot a reindeer race through the town and try not to freeze to death.
